Everything Earned Athletic Award – Lutheran High School East

Congratulations to the winners of Elk & Elk’s Everything Earned Athletic Award!

The men’s basketball team at Lutheran High School East was selected as the first winner of our Everything Earned Athletic Award. The team received $1,000 to benefit their program.

Learn how the Falcons exemplify hard work and dedication in the community, in the classroom and on the court:

We believe hard work should be rewarded.

“We started the Everything Earned program as a way for us to make actual contact with people in our community who were doing things the right way,” said Elk & Elk Partner Jay Kelley.

During Elk & Elk’s search for the first recipient of the Everything Earned Athletic Award, the Lutheran East men’s basketball team stood out for their commitment to excellence on the court and in the classroom, and passion to make a difference in the community.

“We have a great group of kids. They come in every day, they leave their egos at home and they’ve really bought into the team concept…they know that when they step through these doors we become a family,” said varsity head coach and Lutheran East athletic director Anthony Jones.

The players’ hard work and dedication paid off during the 2015-2016 season. The team advanced to the 2016 Ohio High School Athletic Association Boys Basketball Division IV District Tournament, and concluded their season with an impressive 20-6 record.

According to Jones, the players put their education first and are devoted to touching the lives of people in their community. Each year the team takes part in Lutheran East’s Service Day, assisting local churches and organizations with a variety of tasks. Photos from last year’s Lutheran East Service Day.

The money from the award will contribute to the ongoing makeover of Lutheran East’s gymnasium, which includes installation of a new floor, repainting of the gym and bleacher renovations.
