Elk & Elk’s Amy Papesh to Present at National Business Institute Estate Planning Seminar

Elk & Elk attorney Amy Papesh will offer valuable insights into the most effective estate planning procedures and strategies at National Business Institute’s upcoming “Estate Planning from A to Z” seminar. The two-day program kicks off on Monday, March 20, with Papesh’s presentations on client screening and intake and key elements of effective wills.

estate planningDescribed as the “ultimate guide to estate planning,” the basic-to-intermediate level course is designed for attorneys, estate and financial planners, trust officers, paralegals, accountants and tax preparers. The seminar has been approved by the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 12 CLE credit hours, including one hour of attorney professional conduct instruction.

NBI’s “Estate Planning from A to Z” takes place at CMBA Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 20 and 21. Registration for the 2-day seminar is $575 and includes the cost of the supplemental coursebook.

Papesh presents on Day 1 of the seminar from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.

Her first session focuses on aspects of client screening and intake. Topics include clarifying goals, forecasting needs, assessing assets and debts, dealing with family dynamics and reviewing existing estate plans.

In her second session, Papesh reviews key elements of effective wills, including statutory framework, types of wills, verification and documentation of testator’s competency, titling assets, and beneficiary designations and distributions in retirement plans and life insurance.

Papesh’s co-presenters include John R. Harrison (Hickman & Lowder Co., LPA), Richard S. Koblentz (Koblentz & Penvose, LLC), Michael P. Morley (Brennan, Manna & Diamond, LLC), Mark N. Musial (Musial & Musial Co., LPA) and Gary Pilcher (former Senior V.P., Farmers Trust Company). Other topics covered in presentations throughout the seminar include tax planning, planning for unmarried and remarried couples, revocable living trusts and ethical considerations.
